# When a detained person cannot contact people outside

A missing call does not explain what the person wants or is experiencing. The article distinguishes possible communication, direct conversation and help an outside participant actually accepted. Family, consular, language and legal roles retain different tasks and conditions.

For adults in immigration detention, relatives and outside supporters.

- What is directly known and what second-hand?
- Whom does the person want told?
- What communication is actually accessible?
- Who accepted a particular task?
- What help is needed now regardless of a call?

No detention-lawfulness finding, national process, release deadline or guaranteed intake/safe contact. Family and consulates are not automatically notified; immediate danger needs actual local help.
