“Why did I survive?” may accompany remembrance, a difficult decision or a feeling without clear words yet. This article asks for neither confession nor self-exoneration and does not require finding a meaning for war. It considers survival, responsibility, grief, hindsight and care for life today as separate questions. You can begin with listening or help, skip other sections and stop at any point. Reconstructing danger in detail is unnecessary. If sleep, food, a trusted person's presence or a consultation matters more now, those needs can come first. Access to support does not depend on having already resolved every question about the past.
