If you witnessed violence and struggle with why you did not intervene, this article considers what was seen, your role and the means available then separately. It requires no replay, new danger to prove courage or public account. Begin with present support, skip other parts and stop when needed. Stillness is no ready diagnosis, and guilt's intensity determines no entire responsibility. The person harmed retains consent, safety and their own history. Voluntary disclosure and possible legal duties need separate consideration. Help need not wait for the end of an inward trial: one present request and a suitable contact with clear conditions can be a starting point.
