# When a parent needs support

Loving a child can coexist with needing help. Exhaustion need not become a diagnosis or be demonstrated through a public crisis first. This article distinguishes adult needs, present care, and particular tasks another person can accept. There is no compulsory self-help ritual or guarantee that a well-worded request will be fulfilled. Actual participation, helper limits, and keeping children out of a rescuer role matter. A child should not sustain an adult through convenience or required gratitude. In immediate danger or inability to maintain necessary safety, appropriate urgent help is needed. Reading and planned rest must not delay protection; care requires more than an encouraging promise.
