# If you need assistance after self-harm

Serious injury, deterioration, or inability to remain safe requires available local urgent medical assistance. Do not assess severity from a photograph or article. Intention to act now should not wait for a routine meeting; involve appropriate help while keeping participants safe.

Self-harm does not automatically establish intent to die. Not reporting suicidal intent does not establish safety or remove the need for medical assessment. Contact can begin with thoughts of self-harm, without a diagnosis or complete wartime account.

A relative can help establish actual contact. Displaying injuries to acquaintances is no admission price for support. Continuing assistance needs clear communication, participation, and others' real limits. You can ask again without promising that it will never recur or waiting for another injury.
