# When previous care makes another contact difficult

Trust need not return on command. Begin with what happened, what remains unclear, and present needs. An initial question requires no prior proof of cause or professional fault.

The full article distinguishes therapeutic difficulty, an unsuitable approach, misunderstanding, boundary concerns, and danger. Direct discussion with the previous professional is possible when safe and appropriate, without being a condition for seeking other care. Another opinion may clarify present needs without promising a flawless professional or final verdict.

Ask a new contact about role, goals, arrangements, information, and continuity. A complete war history need not come first. Complaints, current care, and retaining facts serve different tasks. Doubt about one encounter does not justify independently changing medication or abruptly stopping all necessary treatment.

Immediate danger, serious deterioration, or inability to maintain safety needs appropriate available local urgent assistance. Do not wait for completed review or a complaint reply before necessary initial action.
