# When you are expected to explain how you became stronger

After war, an important change may coexist with needing help. You may see nothing you want to call growth. Neither answer determines human worth or proves a wish to continue life, or its absence.

Posttraumatic growth is a research concept rather than an assignment to surpass your former self. Personal narrative, comparison of measures at different times and a particular available action are different information. Measurement limits make nobody a liar. One story also cannot confirm improvement for every programme participant.

A new skill proves no necessity of war to acquire it. Real support may receive gratitude without gratitude for harm. Assistance and suitable conditions make no participation unreal. They need not be abandoned to test independence.

A public growth story should not purchase support. Difficulties substantially affecting life may warrant suitable assessment without a positive conclusion or every self-directed method tried first. Immediate danger, serious deterioration or inability to maintain safety requires appropriate available local urgent help without waiting for growth or hope.
