# Dyslexia and specific learning difficulties

For caring adults and learners aged 18+. Question: how can a reading, writing or mathematical difficulty be described and appropriate help requested?

A skill is not overall ability. Decoding and understanding differ; access to a book and reading instruction serve different aims. One sign cannot diagnose, and supported success does not establish that a difficulty disappeared.

Possible action: select an example, identify the educational aim and assistance already provided, then ask a school or suitable professional about a specific skill and the next responsible person. With limited resources, begin with a message and temporary arrangements. A child participates without negotiating alone.

Substantial persistent difficulty needs professional clarification; sudden deterioration calls for medical discussion. No diagnostic test, prescription or entitlement guarantee is offered. Sources: NIH, NHS, Education Scotland, Aristotle Metaphysics I.1/Poetics IV and CRC 12/16. Local procedures differ. Publication and production acceptance NOT_RUN.
