# Dating and Health Information: Timing, Scope, and Purpose

Material: UW:LHD-066:en · r01 · subordinate representation of ARTICLE_EN.md. DELIVERY.json records the exact original hash. Local author version; production acceptance and publication NOT_RUN.

## Short answer

There is no universal date number for discussing health. Distinguish personal history, conditions for spending time together, and information material to another person's health or a particular decision. Scope and timing depend on the issue; the article does not permit postponing medically or legally necessary discussions. Privacy and honest participation can be retained together.

## Key distinctions

- Visible disability does not cancel privacy; an invisible condition does not establish deception by default.
- Naming an accessible entrance or a possible change of plan need not mean discussing all treatment.
- Trust develops through familiarity and actions; rapid disclosure does not prove it exists.
- Information for a specific agreed action needs separate attention. Medical significance and local legal obligations are not determined by a general article.
- Asking someone not to forward a message names a boundary without guaranteeing confidentiality.
- A pause, uncertainty, an offer of help, and readiness to provide it are different outcomes. Another's reaction does not measure the speaker's dignity.

## Possible application

For one meeting, identify the purpose of speaking and distinguish known facts, uncertainty, and chosen scope. Without threats, a person can name a present condition and a boundary around details, leaving room for a specific question. Oral or supported communication and a pause are possible; a paid app, public confession, and detailed diary are unnecessary. A material medical or legal issue needs appropriate checking before the relevant action. In danger, the exercise does not take priority over accessible local emergency help.

## Questions and answers

**Can someone always wait until they feel ready to disclose?** There is no universal permission: information material to a specific action and applicable obligations is considered separately from optional personal history.

**Does honesty require the entire story?** No. Honesty is not complete transparency; this does not permit deliberately obtaining another's agreement on a materially false basis.

**Does good wording guarantee acceptance?** No. Both people retain choice, and a refusal does not prove the whole account was delivered wrongly.

**Can rules from an English-language source be applied to one's country?** No. HIV.gov examples concern a particular US HIV context, not every condition or country.
