## Purpose

For an adult with new or ongoing memory difficulties, the master helps communicate known facts and safety questions to a professional without forcing recall. It is a new linked adaptation of DEP-18-N08; the original is preserved. WAR-025 remains a metadata-only background candidate, not claimed as freshly read. GEO is subordinate to the current article.

## Main points

“I do not remember” can refer to different difficulties. Attention/encoding, storage and retrieval are useful distinctions from CUH's clinical guide rather than a home localisation test. New change, recurrence and effects on familiar activities matter. Possible explanations differ and may coexist; sleep, health, substances, medication and known injury are reported as information, not established causes. Independently changing prescriptions or withdrawing substances to test a theory is not proposed.

NHS guidance calls for immediate medical help for sudden confusion. Previous forgetfulness cannot establish the cause of a new acute change. A diary and complete history must not delay help. An exhaustive urgency algorithm is not offered.

Recollection, an external record and another person's report differ. Hypothetical Artyom sees a calendar appointment without remembering the conversation: the entry is known, its origin may not be. A later fragment is not declared automatically true or false. Support for a present difficulty need not await a final dispute over the past.

A gap proves neither hidden abuse nor that a reported experience should be dismissed. The dated American Psychiatric Association statement (2000, reaffirmed 2013) advises against prejudging cause/accuracy of new memories. It is not a complete current research review. No elicitation methods, pressure, leading narrative or certification through vividness/confidence are offered. Present distress and protection remain important amid uncertainty. Historical/legal proof is not inferred from a therapeutic conversation.

## Application and conditions

Without urgent illness, one example may be retained under optional categories: “I remember,” “a record/someone reports,” and “unknown,” with approximate time and one effect. No investigation, hourly testing or complete biography. With limited resources, a note or spoken beginning can suffice to start; lack of money, family, phone or safe contact is a real barrier. A referral is not an assessment received.

A calendar or regular place for objects may be chosen as an everyday aid without diagnosing or replacing assessment. A useful reminder does not authorise driving/hazardous work or settle medicines/childcare. Uncertainty about safely following prescriptions needs appropriate medical contact rather than guessing. A child is not the adult's monitor. A relative reports their observations within an agreed role, without ownership of a biography or messages. Local privacy/capacity rules require separate competence.

## Traditions

Augustine X.8 describes variable recall and inner images within theological inquiry, rather than a complete hidden archive or neuroscience. The chronicler's blank in Legge XV.XXV is a bounded ethical image of honest uncertainty. Reciprocity in XV.XXIII questions imposition by a helper. Analogies establish neither diagnosis, memory accuracy nor legal evidence.
