## Entrance and distinctions

An adult with restriction and weight-gain fear can discuss eating/physical health without waiting for a particular appearance. Hypothetical Lera changes plans around rules, fears lost control and delays because others compliment her. No anorexia diagnosis is inferred. NIMH describes restriction/weight fear and different bodies across EDs. One fear does not diagnose; calling discipline healthy cannot exclude difficulty. An acquaintance's visual judgement differs from clinical measurement and cannot authorise waiting for deterioration.

Restriction can have differing/coexisting explanations: physical complaints, food access, adverse effects, ARFID involving sensory drivers/consequence fear/low interest without shape change as the main aim. No home diagnostic selection. Facts stay separate; causes may be unknown. Poverty is not pathologised. NHS anorexia information supports help amid uncertainty and physical assessment without guaranteeing a British pathway elsewhere.

## Care and application

Deterioration, photographs/numbers, body love or eliminating fear are not prerequisites. Name one fact, consequence and physical changes; request eating/physical assessment, explanation and accessible next contact. Notes are optional. One access barrier and care-related fear inform discussion. No menu, calories, target weight, restriction/compensation techniques, weighing, self-exposure, prescription changes or home nutritional-recovery plan.

Helpers have agreed roles rather than independent menus/surveillance; children are not responsible for adults. Family, phones, funds and places are not guaranteed. Privacy/emergency arrangements require local clarification. Fear is discussed alongside medical need; a right to discussion does not require declaring danger safe. Daily improvements matter alongside medical outcomes; appearance cannot certify completion. Deterioration/inaccessibility can be reported without abruptly stopping care independently.

Continuing unconsciousness, sudden confusion, acute deterioration or inability to maintain safety requires available immediate assistance. Examples are not exhaustive and their absence excludes no risk. Language determines no country/number.

## Traditions and basis

Aristotle II.5–6 distinguishes feeling/character without diagnosing fear. Legge XV.XXX does not glorify neglect of food/sleep for fruitless thought. Epictetus §1 promises no complete bodily control. Traditions differ and do not replace clinical assessment.
