Short answer

Identify the actual change: building, teachers, timetable, language, programme or care. Changing places and stages differ; age and school labels do not prove readiness for every independent task. Choose one real barrier and an accessible adult while retaining the child's view without handing over the whole decision.

What needs checking before the first day?

Submitting an application, a confirmed place, a start date and accessible participation are separate states. Check admission, documents, costs and local requirements with current responsible sources. Clarify an accessible explanation, actual contact and agreed care. A possible meeting or name in a plan does not establish help received; a missing resource remains an adult question.

What about a learning difficulty?

Distinguish unfamiliar routines, a new topic and inaccessible language through a particular task. A mistake does not determine ability; one explanation does not complete a transition. Do not impose a second full programme at home or appoint a child permanent interpreter for adults. Previous language, relationships and support needs are not shameful.

How are care and privacy maintained?

Journeys and care handovers need actual agreement among suitable adults; a telephone, sibling or school buddy does not automatically replace it. Share necessary information with a safe suitable recipient, clarifying authority and confidentiality. No compulsory child account, public family history, gratitude or happiness deadline. Declining optional discussion does not suspend care.

When should settling not be awaited?

Harm, threats or unsafe conditions require appropriate protection without waiting for a label, repetition or a perfect account. Recurring difficulty, significant distress or interference with life warrants suitable consideration without requiring all signs together. Immediate danger or acute deterioration calls for suitable urgent help before optional practice. New pain is not automatically explained as reluctance to attend.

Limits

Adult readers; conditional6–11, with stages and ages dependent on the system. No school selection, diagnosis, exhaustive emergency list, guaranteed service or friendship. An ordinary transition is not automatically war or trauma. Dewey and Gibran provide bounded historical comparisons; RCN and Anna Freud offer professional guidance, rather than research on this family or worldwide procedure. Thai GEO excluded.
