Support in education and work: requesting conditions without unnecessary disclosure
material_id: UW:GROW-048:en
For caring adults and young adults aged 18+. A functional request, personal account, evidence and implementation differ. Name the activity, barrier and purpose; clarify decision authority, necessary information and sharing limits.
No promise that a diagnosis is never needed, secrecy is absolute or every adjustment guaranteed. JAN/ADA and GOV.UK/HSE concern different local systems. Institutional rules and legal applicability need separate clarification. Access must not silently replace an assessed skill; safety needs competent actual provision.
Children participate accessibly while adults organise negotiation, protection and handover. A public biography must not become an unstated price of help, and children must not investigate or repeatedly persuade substitute staff. With limited resources, begin with one enquiry and a brief request.
Check receipt, decision and implementation separately. Immediate danger requires local urgent assistance. Sources: SYS-057, JAN, GOV.UK, HSE, CRC12/16/28–29, DeweyIV.1 and Epictetus1 with bounded comparisons. Local companion; production acceptance and publication NOT_RUN.
