Article guide

A migrant between community help and an intermediary's power

Guide contents

Through fictional Lina, the article distinguishes mutual assistance, an intermediary's service and pressure. Combined dependencies, gratitude, consent and the ability to refuse remain separate subjects. Limited British material and ILO guidance establish neither an individual legal classification nor safe departure.

Questions explored

Can someone be trusted solely because they speak my first language?

Shared language helps conversation. Role, expertise and accuracy need other grounds; ordinary assistance is not inherently suspicious because of language.

Does any payment already prove a crime?

The article establishes no such conclusion. The demand, circumstances and applicable law matter; the ILO principles are expressly non-binding guidance.

Does earlier help make every new task obligatory?

A received benefit and agreement to a new role differ. The article decides no individual legal outcome and promises no safe refusal.

Must one adviser resolve both work and visa questions?

These subjects can require different roles. A service's limits and a published page guarantee neither individual access nor an outcome.

Key distinctions

Comprehensible speech establishes neither legal expertise, role nor an accurate warning.

  • Informal everyday help does not automatically require a professional title.

Selected ILO principles distinguish understandable terms, voluntary agreement and recruitment costs; the guidance is expressly non-binding.

  • An international standard establishes neither any payment's domestic legality nor a particular offence.

In the fictional account, earlier assistance establishes no consent for Lina to bring others to work and answer for them.

  • This is no automatic legal test or promise that refusal immediately restores freedom.

The 5 July 2019 Attorney General's Office release reports Operation Fort convictions, offers of work/accommodation and coercive conduct.

  • A dated example determines neither every job offer's nature nor guilt by nationality.

The Work Rights Centre page read describes free confidential advice with limits and distinguishes employment and immigration advice.

  • Published terms guarantee neither admission nor every confidentiality arrangement.

Transmitting demands, organising and acting under pressure require distinct attention to knowledge, conduct and role.

  • Dependency establishes no legal immunity, and explaining a role cancels no harm.

Limits of interpretation

  • Lina is fictional; limited British examples establish neither her nationality, permission to work nor legal classification.
  • The article determines no safe refusal, contact or departure, and promises no visa, immunity, representation or rapid recovery.
  • Origins establish no crime; ending pressure and subsequent recovery are different phases.
