Questions & Answers
I have been given a diagnosis: what did I understand, and what needs explaining?
Based on LHD-009,r01, ARTICLE_EN.md. A dependent representation of the article, not an individual medical assessment.
What does the article clarify?
It separates the condition's name, the status of a medical explanation, prognosis and the next action. Repeating a name does not establish understanding. Its practical aim is one specific gap to discuss with the team (I–IV).
How might I ask for clarification?
“I remember this, but I do not understand what it means in my case.” Ask what is established and what remains open, then try expressing the meaning in your own words. This checks communication rather than examining the patient. Speech, pictures or familiar communication support may be appropriate (II,V).
What if resources are limited?
Choose one question, ask for an accessible way of preserving the answer and identify any unavailable resource. Private care, a relative and an app are not conditions for making the request. The article cannot guarantee service availability or make the patient responsible for coordinating the whole system (IV,practice).
Why include philosophy and Job?
Epictetus1 distinguishes action from external results; ConfuciusII.17 distinguishes knowledge from acknowledged ignorance; Job2:13 depicts presence without a ready explanation. These sources illuminate a human situation without establishing a cause or treatment of illness (VI–VII).
What does the article not establish?
An individual prognosis, diagnosis, treatment change, safe waiting period or universal legal authority for relatives. Serious current danger calls for appropriate urgent help. Clarifying one question does not resolve the entire medical situation (III,V,VIII).
Sources and limits
GMC,10,25–31 concerns UK professional communication. Epictetus, Confucius and Job2 are distinct primary traditions with stated limits. Model author review is not clinical review or actual reader testing.
