Questions & Answers
Symptoms are real, but the explanation is unsettled: how can physical and mental aspects be discussed?

Question and benefit
An adult has real symptoms without a clear explanation: how can experience and assessment plans remain credible without choosing body or mind? Symptom, observation, result, hypothesis, and next step differ. Acknowledging difficulty confirms no particular cause; an unconfirmed cause refutes no entire experience.
Distinctions
One everyday contrast can support a question. Mark approximate dates, quotations, and sources. A normal result concerns an investigation's question/context, not every cause. Absent findings establish no psychogenic cause and require no endless new test list.
“Unexplained so far” is not established FND. Functional neurological disorder needs specialist history, examination, and clinical features; it is not a name for every unexplained symptom. Grounds involve present specific patterns rather than absent findings alone. No home manoeuvres, video exams, symptom demonstrations, or truth testing by relatives. Ask what supports a conclusion. Diagnostic grounds, individual mechanism, and explanatory metaphor have different certainty.
Stress/trauma need not be found to complete a biography. Report known events without inventing or deliberately revisiting trauma. Worsening on a stressful day proves no cause. Origin, triggering, exacerbation, and a current barrier are different questions, not four assigned causes. Danger, work, debt, no rest, and no safe space remain real conditions.
Professionals may address different questions or genuinely disagree. Clarify period, information, and level of conclusion; price, recency, or confidence selects no winner. Hearing accounts does not give all equal grounds. An established FND diagnosis excludes neither coexisting neurological illness nor a new question automatically.
Psychological help does not itself declare bodily symptoms invented. Ask purpose, relationship to other assessment, limits, format, and access. Support and continuing medical questions can coexist; no particular therapy/outcome is prescribed. A nonspeaking adult is not presumed unable to understand; a chosen supporter preserves meaning and agreed information scope.
A plan needs a subject and continuation: what remains, who receives, who explains. Do not combine conflicting instructions at home or test through stopping/repeating exposures. Sending, answering, booking, and actual consideration differ; a coordinator's name proves no completed work. Explanation, clinical accuracy, and legal fault are distinct states.
Practical help need not wait for a final name. “Delegate” creates no absent helper. Children do not organise adult care, medication, or constant monitoring; adult supporters have agreed limits too. Ordinary life is no diagnostic reward or activity prescription. Formal services/documents differ from everyday agreements; no benefits promised.
Accessible action
Non-urgent practice: “This interferes…; I was told…; I do not understand…; what is established and what is the next question?” One phrase can suffice: “The symptom interferes; the cause is unclear; help me identify the next question.” No dossier, family, application, continuous diary, or acceptance story required. Begin with one access barrier where needed.
Searching also needs purpose and resources. Limiting it establishes no cause and does not abandon reporting new changes. Name search exhaustion without making it the original symptom's cause. With humiliating/unclear explanations, return to one fact and grounds rather than winning a philosophical dispute or automatically rejecting an unwelcome conclusion.
Current danger, risk of harming yourself, or severe acute deterioration calls for available local urgent help without practice. Sudden confusion itself needs immediate medical help without home tests/additional signs. No personal risk/waiting period is assessed. MHR-L01–L07 are topics, not services/contacts. Language establishes no jurisdiction.
Grounds and limits
NHS unexplained symptoms, review 5 June 2024: reality/description, no recovery/activity advice; MedlinePlus results: context; Mayo diagnosis, 11 January 2022: positive clinical grounds, not whole DSM; Mayo causes: a trigger may be unidentified; KCH FND: specialist assessment/coexisting illness; Hopkins 13 August 2026: trauma not universal/examination, no fMRI/efficacy/home lists. GMC 25–31: UK context; NHS confusion: exact earlier urgent reading.
Job 2, Proverbs 18:13–17, Confucius II.15/17, and Epictetus 9 concern presence, listening, learning, and action. No shared clinical algorithm, seven-day waiting rule, or willpower condition for dignity.
Local author checking is no coordinator, automatic, clinical, legal, independent, native-language, or human acceptance, import, indexing, runtime, or publication.
