Question and argument

How can actions and abilities be discussed with dignity intact? Fictional Sergei wants to choose purchases, needs help reading and has not returned an object. The scene establishes no cause, guilt or legal status.

Dignity is no reward for usefulness. A particular action’s consequences may require a response and another’s boundary without authorizing humiliation or whole-life control. Diagnosis neither removes every question nor automatically establishes intention, guilt or legal incapacity. Ability concerns a task, time and conditions; choosing and performing differ.

CRPD12 supplies an international framework of equal recognition, support and safeguards. NHS describes treatment consent in a British context. They form no universal home procedure. Kantian moral autonomy is no memory or speech test; Galatians6 and Confucian examination require neither equal contribution nor total confession.

Practice and limits

Voluntarily choose an episode, known agreement, consequences and unknown facts. Name an available action, helper role and gap. Explanation, advice, an errand and formal authority differ. Gratitude for past assistance transfers no future decisions. Returning choices requires no withdrawal of all support.

Repair is checked through action; a promise is no performance. Serious harm is not reduced to an exercise, and a harmed person owes no contact or forgiveness. Do not withdraw necessary support for a test or change treatment through the article. Immediate danger requires urgent help without waiting for a note. Medical readiness, local procedure and legal conclusions need appropriate participants.

Limited energy, money, language access and helpers are real constraints. Speech and help organizing can be used without an app, daily reporting or a child as permanent intermediary. Contact, agreement and support differ; unfinished matters are neither excused by dignity nor a verdict on the whole person.
